Supporting Memphis and Shelby County residents in overcoming property-code challenges and preserving safe, livable homes.

About the Foundation (SCECF)

The Shelby County Environmental Court Foundation (SCECF) was established to support the work of the Shelby County Environmental Court and improve quality of life for residents. Each year, hundreds of homeowners in Memphis and Shelby County receive citations or notices for code violations—ranging from overgrown lawns and cluttered yards to needed home repairs. For many, the cost of addressing these issues is simply out of reach. Through the generosity of donors, SCECF partners with approved vendors to cover the expense of correcting violations, helping homeowners restore their properties and preserve safe, livable homes and neighborhoods.

Our Work

For many residents, a code violation is more than a property issue; it can become a financial burden they simply cannot overcome. Through the Environmental Court Indigent Assistance Program, the Foundation helps eligible residents, prioritizing elderly individuals and those experiencing documented hardship.

Our Events

Raising the Roof is the Shelby County Environmental Court Foundation’s signature fundraising event, bringing together supporters who believe every resident deserves the opportunity to live in a safe, well-maintained home. The event celebrates the Foundation’s impact, shares the stories behind the work, and raises critical funding to help homeowners address code violations and restore their properties.
